God or gods?

And the LORD said, Behold, the people is one, and they have all one language; and this they begin to do: and now nothing will be restrained from them, which they have imagined to do. Go to, let us go down, and there confound their language, that they may not understand one another's speech.

How to make sense of Bible, in particular the Old Testament?

The Old Testament is full of contradictions and several authors have written books on this topic. For example the 6th of the 10 commandments clearly states:

Thou shalt not kill.

https://www.bible.com/no/bible/1/EXO.20.13.KJV

One of the biggest and most glorified heroes of the Bible was the second king of Israel, David, a conqueror and merciless warrior who had countless lives on his conscience. Why did God appreciate him so much when he was clearly breaking the 6th commandment all the time?

God in the Old Testament comes across as bipolar, and to understand why, you need to understand who God actually represents. The following books illuminate the topic:

The Gods of Eden - by William Bramley
The 12th Planet (Book I) (Earth Chronicles 1) - by Zecharia Sitchin
Comprehensive Study of the Origin of Humankind - by Ryanne Maxine Meyersohn
